religious ocd

I had a blasphemous thought against the holy spirit s few days ago a bc it’s been on my mind. So today i asked my mom: “ does God take someone’s life away if they committed the sin of blasphemy” and she responded with “Maybe yes or maybe no, he can maybe give that person days to live until the destined day that person has to die, dies.” And after she said that i’ve been kind of anxious and asking for forgiveness. Keep in mind that i wasn’t feel bad about this thought before. Idk why. Now i’m anxious.

I used to have blasphemous thoughts against the Holy Spirit going through my mind every minute of the day. This is quite normal for religious OCD. A lot of people have blasphemous thoughts. There is a lot of helpful articles and videos out there. I think it’s important for you to know that those thoughts don’t mean anything. There is no connection between our OCD thoughts and what happens in the outside world. No one will die if you have a thought. I think it would be really important for you to start ERP therapy. You don’t have to worry that the thoughts in your head will cause something bad to happen. Therapy will help you overcome this fear. Have you looked into NOCD? They have great therapy

@Tea and Honey but i think i had it on purpose. Because when i had it, it felt like i was in control of it..? idk what how to explain but after the thought i felt a little anxious and i decided to not feel like that way because i hate feeling anxious so i blocked that feeling out.

Great news! I can answer this question and maybe alleviate some of your anxiety. I know with certainty that you are forgiven. The very fact that you are concerned means that your heart is right with God. Christianity is all about the Gospel message. The good news of Jesus Christ. None of us are perfect. We all sin all the time! We cannot help it because we are flawed humans. That being said, we turn to Jesus Christ who died for our sins because God knew we could never follow a set of rules and be successful at it. Rather than alienate us from him in our sinful nature, he sent Christ to die and pay the cost of our sins in full for whoever believes in him. Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father which means our debt for our sins we’ve committed today and tomorrow are forgiven. All we have to do is believe in him.

hii, i really struggled with fears of blasphemy against the holy spirit too. what eased my mind was finding out that blasphemy against the holy spirit is actually when you reject the holy spirit for your whole life, by never accepting Jesus as your saviour. i don’t mean to go against your mum, but i don’t think she’s right about what she said. God isn’t vengeful, he doesn’t strike people down or cut them off from him for life if they commit blasphemy. he loves you, and if you have sinned against him he will forgive you- he wants to see you happy and prospering ! that said, i also don’t think that having blasphemous intrusive thoughts is a sin, those thoughts aren’t your fault, you aren’t in control of them. God knows the difference between an actual thought/belief, and an intrusive one (he created your mind after all, he knows all about intrusive thoughts !) so please don’t worry, God loves you and you’ll be okay <3

@CC.090715 you probably weren’t anxious about it at the time because you knew it didn’t mean anything, but now you’re worrying about it. and even if you did 100% think it on purpose, God still loves you and since you’ve apologised to him, he forgives you. he won’t cause anything bad to happen to you, so don’t worry :)

@wren <3 Wren is right. God loves you. He wants to have a relationship with you and he clearly does because you’re stressing about this. Remember God is good. Always and in all ways. While we don’t know when God will eventually call us home, it’s going to be on his time and it’s not the result of anything we do or don’t do. The key is to find Jesus and a relationship with him before that time comes.

Religious OCD is making me feel really bad about

For years I was a very anxious person, I acquired anxiety since I was bullied at my school, since I was a child. A few years ago I realized that I was overdoing it with cleaning, I always wanted to wash my hands thinking that if I didn't, I would get some disease. After that time I started to attend my church, I became a very religious person, in this environment I went through some good things and some bad things, I've seen people point the finger at me for some things they liked to do. Then they kept saying that because of my behavior I could become a nun because I was a well behaved person, This stayed in my head and at the same time I felt guilty for not wanting this in my life, sometimes I was afraid that God would punish me. I am currently unable to attend my church as I used to for fear of judgment from people and also for fear of being in a serious sin and someone pointing the finger at me and starting to feel bad.The last time I had a crisis was when I heard from a priest that watching soap operas is a sin, I spent 5 days straight researching this on the internet and the more I couldn't find what I was looking for the more anxious I felt. I caught myself several times asking God to get rid of these thoughts.There was also a time in my life when I was terrified of speaking some blasphemy against the Holy Spirit and never being forgiven by God, The Bible makes it very clear that blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is an unpardonable sin.

hi guys it’s been awhile since i’ve been on here but right now i’m starting to get really scared i’m scared to go to hell because i swear, have intrusive thoughts and compulsions (obviously) and i look at and do s*xually immoral acts i am a catholic person and i’ve always stood by the notion that if i act with good intentions then there is no issue, but my mum was talking about her fear of going to hell (her ocd subtypes are about this) and now i feel guilty when i sin, even tho i only want peace in the world i go to reddit and look at some answers for this stuff (i have a really bad compulsion of searching questions on google for hours) and they mostly say i will go to hell if i sin i also get really depressed then question god’s existence and then wonder why i should be alive and stuff and then i’m guilty later i really don’t want this to become a major subtype. i have health ocd but it’s calmed down since i’ve been diagnosed with a health condition (for some reason??) can someone, christian or not, please respond with their experience with this subtype or anyone with advice at all?

religious ocd

hi ya'll so yesterday I decided to read my bible in the morning before work, "which i never do"! I opened up to Matthew 12: 22. it talk about blasphemy against the holy spirit! man all of a sudden in my head I heard f-god! and were off to the races!! I went down a shame rabbit hole that is still bothering me! thoughts that I'm going to hell that god is angry with me! so I jumped on you tube to get some relief! I found all kinds of videos on this and did help but I'm hard headed and still feel some anxiety around this! can anyone relate? i know god love me and that this is ocd/the devil but still hurts a bit...
